For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Today I was reminded of something a friend said to me, “I still think there's anger there but you are resilient.” I wasn’t sure what he was referring to because I was trying to hang on to our relationship instead of letting God take control. It turns out he was right about both; I did have anger and I am resilient.
In my book “Closer to the One” I write about why I have a tough time letting go and trusting. Ever since I was a young girl it seems someone or something was always taken from me. When I wanted something too much or loved someone or something too much it was taken from me. Therefore I began to distance myself from loving something or wanting to hold on too much because in the back of my mind I thought I could keep it that way and I was wrong. God takes things from us that we may idolize or worship or covet more than him. We may not always get what we want but God provides us with what we need to grow closer to him.
I am only resilient because of Jesus Christ; because he died for us. His love covers all of our sins and therefore we must forgive those who have sinned against us.
Remember hurting people will hurt people and people who forgive create forgiveness in others. With all of this the person who may have once caused you pain can be the cause of your joy through peace and love.
